11th Wing hosts 4 assumptions of command: CPTS, CONS, CES, SFS

The 11th Wing commander hosted a ceremony encompassing four assumptions of command at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington D.C., June 26, 2020. The 11th Wing hosted the ceremony to officially activate the 11th Comptroller Squadron, 11th Contracting Squadron, 11th Civil Engineer Squadron and 11th Security Forces Squadron. The 11th Wing and subordinate units are standing up in preparation for the wing to take lead service responsibility of JBAB from the U.S. Navy by October 2020.

JBAB reduces health protection condition to BRAVO, plans to reopen some services

Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is decreasing the Health Protection Condition for the installation from CHARLIE to BRAVO effective June 29. To lower the risk to the JBAB Team, many facilities on the installation have been closed for more than two months. Some JBAB facilities will reopen as they are determined to be able to do so safely. All facilities and services that reopen will still need to adhere to social distancing guidelines and other procedures to help ensure the well-being of all patrons.

Air Force, Navy sign memo establishing Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling service-lead transfer

A Memorandum of Agreement was signed June 24 transferring the lead responsibility of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., from the Navy to the Air Force.

Air Force Elite Gate Guard, Navy civilian police join forces at JBAB

Navy civilian police and the U.S. Air Force Elite Gate Guard began joint gate operations June 12 providing physical security for the installation. The integration of the Elite Gate Guard into Navy installation access operations provides an opportunity for both the Air Force Defenders and the Department of the Navy civilian police officers to learn the others' culture and ensure a smooth transition in October when the Navy transfers lead service responsibility for the base to the Air Force.

11th Wing activates on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling; preparation continues to transfer base to Air Force responsibility

The 11th Wing – The Chief’s Own returned to Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in an activation and assumption-of-command ceremony June 12 at the Bolling Club on base. Air Force Col. Mike Zuhlsdorf, also the JBAB installation commander, assumed command of the wing. Zuhlsdorf was previously the vice commander of the installation and assumed command from Navy Capt. Jose Rodriguez in a June 11 ceremony.
