Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Reveille, Retreat, Taps courtesies guidance

JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, Washington, D.C. — Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling proudly honors the nation’s military heritage by continuing the long-standing traditions of Reveille, Retreat, and Taps. As a reminder, on weekdays, JBAB plays the Reveille bugle call at 7 a.m., “To The Color” and the national anthem at 5 p.m., and Taps at 9 p.m.

First responders recognized for life-saving response

U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team competes at Joint Services Drill Exhibition

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Under the shadow of the Washington Monument, the Air Force’s ambassadors in blue displayed focus and precision during a Joint Service Drill Exhibition on April 15, 2023. The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team competed alongside the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard drill teams to continue the tradition of friendly competition between services.

JBAB Personnel Deployment Function readies departing Airmen

JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, Washington, D.C. — Service members deploy for the first time regularly across the Department of Defense. A joint base deploying units for the very first time, however, is a rare occurrence in recent history. As proof of increased readiness, JBAB completed its first large-scale Personnel Deployment Function on March 30, 2023.

FCC program increases JBAB child care

JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, Washington, D.C. — Quality care is important to any developing child, and military children are no exception. To help combat limited on-base child care, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling has opened the Family Child Care program. FCC providers care for children in the provider’s home, which increases child care capacity for the JBAB community while simultaneously creating work-from-home employment opportunities.

Honoring Women of the Military: Cathleen Giguere’s Dedication to Service

One of the many women making history in the U.S. Coast Guard is Lt. Cmdr. Cathleen Giguere, commanding officer at Coast Guard Station Washington.

Engineers lead the way: AFDW Civil Engineer Squadrons train for Readiness Challenge IX

To prove they are maintaining the necessary contingency skills, the Air Force Civil Engineer Center hosts the ultimate test for civil engineers to showcase their capabilities: the Air Force Civil Engineer Readiness Challenge.

Honoring Women of the Military: Senior Airman Clements’ Dedication to Service

JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, Washington, D.C. — As a Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM) Instructor and assistant Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of the armory at the 11th Security Forces Squadron on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., Senior Airman Lynn Clements has an extensive background and a family history of military service that inspires her everyday.

Gregory Southall: Embracing a legacy of service at JBAB

JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, Washington, D.C. — One of the great competitive edges the U.S. Air Force has over their adversaries is the excellence of their Airmen, past and present, particularly those who weren’t afraid to break barriers. Gregory Southall, 11th Civil Engineer Squadron chief of infrastructure, is acutely aware of this history and progression, not only as a Black man but also as the grandson of a Tuskegee Airman. Southall and his family grew up hearing about the service of his grandfather, the late U.S. Air Force Maj. Clarence Gordon Southall. Service to the country became a family business.

JBA, JBAB rideshare program goes live

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. — Joint Base Andrews and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., paired together to kick off a new program allowing the rideshare company Uber to transport passengers with installation access to and from the bases starting March 1, 2023.
