In partnership with the Anacostia Watershed Society, young freshwater mussels are being monitored on JBAB. The mussels are regularly monitored and their growth is recorded and compared to other mussel nurseries in the region. Once at an adequate size, the mussels will be transferred to their permanent home on mussel reefs in the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers.
