JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, Washington D.C. –
Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is increasing to Health Protection Condition Bravo Plus effective 8 a.m. on Sept. 8, 2021. While there is currently no impact to the hours and availability of services on JBAB, there will likely be capacity restrictions for eating establishments and places where people largely congregate. At this time, there is no additional impact to work place and child care capacity specifically due to the increase in HPCON. We continue to advise maximum telework on the installation. Mask wear remains a requirement for both unvaccinated and vaccinated personnel inside JBAB facilities. Any update to this new guidance will be shared if/when these decisions are made.
The increase to HPCON Bravo Plus is based on increasing trends, both nationally and locally, in positive COVID-19 cases, as well as increasing strain on local medical resources. Data continues to demonstrate that the vast majority of new COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations are occurring in unvaccinated persons.
The 316th Medical Squadron stands ready to administer vaccines to all eligible JBAB personnel and TRICARE beneficiaries 12 years and older. Vaccines are now available by appointment at
https://covidvaccine.sparkxcell.com/. While appointments will take priority, those who walk in will not be turned away. In accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, a third dose of vaccine will be offered to those with compromised immune systems, as defined by the CDC, at least 28 days after receiving the second dose of an mRNA vaccine. Booster doses are not available for any others at this time.
COVID-19 testing is also available in the JBAB clinic parking lot on a walk-in basis. Walk-in hours are 7:30-11:30 a.m and 1-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who are vaccinated and experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 are still encouraged to get tested, as are those vaccinated members with a known exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
We encourage everyone to continue following CDC guidance as COVID-19 remains a persistent threat to our personal health and our force readiness. Please continue to follow the CDC health protection guidance - frequent hand-washing/sanitizing, not sharing personal items, sanitizing work areas regularly, telework when possible, avoid crowds, and maintain six feet of physical distance both indoors and outdoors.
Thank you for doing your part to continue to protect our force and our families!
