- Studio photography is conducted by appointment only for military and civilian members of all service branches who are assigned to Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling who meet the official justification criteria below. Any personnel belonging to a unit with organic Public Affairs capabilities must use their unit’s PA Office.
- Proof may be required for any photo request.
- Appointments for mission-essential photos are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. All requests must be submitted through https://safpa.appianportals.com/request
- YOUR APPOINTMENT WILL BE CANCELLED if you do not include justification, intended use of photo, unit, and base in the Project Purpose field.
- Photos will be available within 72 hours after the appointment. Plan accordingly.
- No-shows for appointments will need to reschedule on their own in the next available appointment slot. Special consideration is not given for urgent deadlines due to no-shows.


The four services provided by our studio are below. Official justification must be provided.

  • Head and Shoulder portrait (Gray background w/appropriate U.S. and service flag combinations, 8x10 or 5x7 crop).
  • Full-length portrait (Plain white background, 5x7 crop, digital only).
  • Official passport photo prints (Plain white background, 2x2 crop).
  • ISOPREP digital photos (Plain white background, 2x2 crop, digital only).


Per regulation and the local PA employment plan, official studio photography requests must be accompanied by a valid justification. Acceptable justifications include:

  • Chain of command studio photography for leaders at the squadron-level and above (commander, deputy commander, senior enlisted leader, and first sergeant)
    • Joint unit equivalent for the squadron is having a unit commander ranked O-4 or above
    • Physical prints for chain of command photos are only provided for displays in squadron-level and above facilities. All other facilities must procure their own photo prints.
  • Quarterly and Annual Award winner photos at the squadron-level and above
    • Joint unit equivalent for the squadron is having a unit commander ranked O-4 or above
    • Physical prints for awards photos are only provided for displays in group-level and above facilities. All other facilities must procure their own photo prints.
  • Applications for special duty assignments.
  • Citizenship applications.
  • Members of offices who have a regulation-driven reason to have their photo taken (SARC, JAG, Chaplain, EO, etc.)

All other requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and proof may be required. Please call JBAB Public Affairs at 202-284-3250 with any questions.


Studio photo requests we are unable to support:

- For retirements
- For official biographies without justification as outlined above
- To keep on file just in case
- To provide a member’s leader
- Chain of command or award winners that don’t meet the above criteria
- We do not retake photos because a rank or award/decoration was updated. 
- Department of the Army photos (¾-length with blue background)
- Members not assigned to JBAB. If you believe you need an exception to this rule, call us at 202-284-3250

Photos will not be modified or edited beyond the necessary cropping and minor lighting adjustments in accordance with DoDI 5040.5, Alteration of Official DoD Imagery, and DoDI 5040.02, Visual Information.

*STUDIO SCHEDULING* 
 
- We are not able to accommodate walk-ins.
- Appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
- Completed prints or emailed products will be provided within 72 hours. Plan accordingly. 
- All personnel must come prepared at the time of their appointment. If a member is missing any part of the uniform, such as a name tag or tie, the member will need to reschedule. PA also reserves the right to turn away personnel whose uniforms do not meet standards (i.e. soiled, too small, too baggy, or wrinkled).
 

GPS DIRECTIONS TO JBAB STUDIO

- JBAB's Photo Studio is currently located in P-20 (Bldg. 20) on the second floor in the Public Affairs Office. 
- On Google Maps, you’re looking for “11th Wing Headquarters” at 20 Macdill Blvd SE
- If entering JBAB through Arnold Gate (main gate), the photo studio is located in the first brick building to the right. Make a right at the first intersection and then another immediate right into the first parking lot. 
- If entering JBAB through the gate near the Joint Visitor Center, make the first right on Duncan St., left on McChord St., right on Brookley Ave. SW, and continue past Arnold Gate. P-20 (Bldg. 20) is the building immediately after Arnold Gate. Turn into the parking lot on the right.
