JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING, Washington, D.C. –
The Department of the Air and Space Force mandates that all active duty, Guard and Reserve Airmen, Guardians in a federalized status and civilian GS employees are trained yearly on Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR).
This annual requirement is intended to educate Airmen and Guardians on prevention, reporting procedures and available resources. At JBAB, the SAPR office is making it a goal to get all personnel trained no later than Oct. 31, 2026.
Beginning July 15, the JBAB SAPR office will offer virtual instructor-led training each Wednesday at 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
"Every training session we conduct is a reaffirmation of our sacred vow to defend one another. SAPR annual training empowers us with the critical tools to recognize risks, intervene decisively, and champion a culture of absolute respect,” shared Sieda Jones, SAPR program manager and lead sexual assault prevention response coordinator (SARC) at JBAB.
The training also reinforces bystander intervention, and the support services available through the SARC. Through these efforts, SAPR aims to foster a military environment free from sexual assault and harrasment.
“[The training’s] true impact is measured not in completed slides, but in the ironclad trust we build within our ranks,” Jones shared. “When every service member knows their safety is guarded by the teammate next to them, our focus remains absolute, our cohesion unbreakable and our mission unstoppable."
The program supports eligible military members and beneficiaries by providing resources, advocacy services and information on reporting options after incidents of sexual assault and harassment.
Units may also conduct unit-led, in-person training using trained facilitators.
For additional information or questions regarding SAPR training, members should contact their unit training manager.
