United States Air Force Honor Guard to perform at National Mall

By Staff Sgt. Kayla White Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Public Affairs

The United States Air Force Honor Guard is scheduled to perform a live 16-person drill team demonstration at noon on April 19, 2021, in front of the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall, Washington D.C.

The demonstration will be livestreamed to the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Facebook page at www.facebook.com/JBABDC.

The free event featuring 20 members of the official ceremonial unit of the United States Air Force will serve to kick off National Park Week. This is a presidentially proclaimed week held every April in which the National Park Service partners with the charitable National Park Foundation to highlight history, culture, and the many ways to explore and enjoy national parks across the country.

The drill team performance will serve as the main event for Military Monday, aimed at thanking military personnel and their families for their service and to invite them to enjoy their national parks.

“Many national parks have direct connections to the American military,” said a Department of the Interior spokesperson. “There are dozens of battlefields, military parks and historic sites that commemorate and honor the service of American veterans. National parks and our programs and partners also offer endless opportunities for today's military, veterans and their families to enjoy their public and lands and their own neighborhoods.”

The Interagency Annual Military Pass is available to military service members and their families, veterans and Gold Star families. This pass waives entrance fees for accessing the lands managed by the NPS as well as the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
