Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling returns to HPCON Bravo

By Staff Reports Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Public Affairs

Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) is returning to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Bravo effective August 3, 2021 at 6 a.m. There is currently no impact to the hours and availability of services provided on JBAB, though there may be restrictions placed for event or facility occupancies.  Additionally, as directed last week, mandatory mask wear inside all facilities on JBAB remains in effect for both vaccinated and unvaccinated personnel.  Any update to this new guidance will be shared if/when these decisions are made.

The change to HPCON Bravo is based on negative trends, found both nationally and locally, in the safety and health conditions associated with COVID-19. Concerns remain about the rising number of infectious cases largely due to the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant and the decreasing trend in voluntary vaccination rates. Nationwide, data shows that the vast majority of new COVID-19 infections are in unvaccinated persons.

As a reminder, individuals 12 years and older are eligible to receive these safe, effective vaccines on a walk-in basis at Tent 1 in the JBAB Clinic parking lot.  COVID-19 testing is also available in the JBAB clinic parking lot on a walk-in basis. Walk-in hours are 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who are vaccinated and experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 are still encouraged to get tested, as are those vaccinated members with a known exposure to someone positive for COVID-19.

We encourage everyone to continue following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidance as COVID-19 remains a persistent threat to our personal health and our force readiness.  Please continue to follow the CDC health protection guidance - frequent hand-washing/sanitizing, not sharing personal items, sanitizing work areas regularly, telework when possible, avoid crowds, and maintain six feet of physical distance both indoors and outdoors.

Thank you for doing your part to continue to protect our force and our families!
