Suicide Prevention Contacts and Resources

Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling

The holiday season is upon us, and while we have much to celebrate and be grateful for, this time of year can also be very challenging for both our uniformed and civilian teammates. For various reasons, the risk of suicide can be higher during these next few months, and I want to make sure all members of our Flock know where they can seek help if they need it.

The 11th Wing Violence and Prevention Team compiled the below list of resources our members and families can turn to should the need arise. Although our clinic can help those in immediate need, this list provides other sources of timely care:

a. Suicide Crisis Lifeline: 988
b. Veterans Crisis Line: 1-800-273-8255
c. JBAB Mental Health Clinic: 202-767-0611
d. 911 is also encouraged as an option

For non-emergent situations, these resources stand ready to assist:

a. JBAB Chaplain (Complete confidentiality): 301-543-9958 / 202-284-3075. If you need crisis assistance after hours, contact the Command Post at 301-981-5058 and ask to be connected to the JBAB on-call Chaplain. Local religious institutions are also available to assist.
b. Military & Family Life Counseling: 202-302-2688
c. Suicide Prevention Program Manager: 202-717-5326
d. Military and Family Readiness Center: 202-284-4473
e. Employee Assistance Program: 1-800-222-0364

This time of year can be joyous, but if you are struggling – please reach out and use one of the resources above. Continue looking out for one another and providing the support needed so we can all have the happiest of holidays. We look forward to a great rest of 2022 and the very best 2023!
