Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. –
Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling reflected on the nearly 3,000 people lost Sept. 11, 2001, during a ceremony on base. The ceremony included the tolling of a bell, remarks from retired U.S. Air Force Col. Andrew Weaver, a musical performance by The U.S. Air Force Band, and a moment of silence to honor the victims of the terrorist attacks. Weaver, former commander of the 11th Mission Support Squadron, shared his experience as a personnel officer at JBAB during 9/11, where he led the accountability, relocation and recovery efforts of Air Force personnel immediately after the attack on the Pentagon.
