Air Force Memorial upcoming closure

By 11th Wing Public Affairs

The Air Force Memorial will be closed to all visitors from March 23 to April 24 for cleaning and inspection of the spires.

This closure impacts all visitors, including those arriving by vehicle or on foot. All events and ceremonies currently scheduled at the Memorial during this timeframe are canceled. Technicians climbing and descending the spires may be visible during maintenance and are a normal part of the process.

We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure the Air Force Memorial remains a safe and welcoming environment for all guests through these essential maintenance efforts.

Dedicated on October 14, 2006, the Air Force Memorial rises on a promontory overlooking the Pentagon and the Potomac River and is the Virginia gateway into the National Memorial Corridor.

The three stainless steel spires of the Air Force Memorial, collectively named "Soaring to Glory," are a striking monument in Arlington, Virginia. Their design is inspired by the contrails of the Air Force Thunderbirds' "bomb burst" maneuver, where the jets peel back in a precision formation.
