Four JBAB Airmen nominated for 2021 Sijan Leadership Awards

U.S. Air Force Maj. Ruben Arredondo, 11th Contracting Squadron commander, was nominated in the senior officer category for the 2021 Lance P. Sijan United States Air Force Leadership Award by the 11th Wing, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. The wing nominated four of its Airmen for the award, with each competing at the Air Force District of Washington direct-reporting unit and major command level. Each year, one senior officer, one junior officer, one senior enlisted and one junior enlisted member earns the award for exceptional leadership traits in mission accomplishment or overcoming unique problems and emergencies, ability to inspire others and demonstrate eagerness to assist in goal accomplishment, and involvement in their local community. Thirty-six teams made up of U.S. House of Representative staffers competed in an all-day softball tournment Sept. 18, 2021 at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., in the battle for the 2021 U.S. House Softball League title. The competition is the culmination of the season of play involving 75 teams across the nation.
